Annabel Araico, Bonsai Trees

This e-mail from Annabel Araico, Belgium, with pictures, is yet another example of the unlimited uses of Apoxie Products . . . great even for “customizing” living plants!!!

OK,

So, I used the white Apoxie Sculpt, prepared it as indicated and I started right away putting amounts of clay on the tree and then sculpting with a metal shaping tool and toothpicks. I started from the front door and chambers with windows. The shape of these are actually determined at the moment of sculpting itself, based on the bonsai’s shape which is very inspiring. Then we add the stairs. It was really nice working with the Apoxie because it adhered very well to the wood so there was no messing or breakage while sculpting. The stairs are built up step by step starting from the ground and here again the clay was sticky and strong enough to hold it all up.

I set it to dry for a day and then I started painting with acrylics by adding color and then wiping it off with a dry Kleenex tissue, over and over again until I got the desired color shade. I added a tiny bit of glitter inside the window holes.

Why did I choose the Apoxie? Well, it has everything you need to make this kind of sculpt: it’s waterproof after drying and that’s very important because a bonsai needs to be wet and given water almost daily. It gets rock hard and so your fairy house will last for a long time to enjoy!! And off couse, its non toxic, otherwise your bonsai won’t survive this! Hehehe…

Love
